The maps I submit in the past getting rejected for such things as "not our style" or freeze corners not just right were maps hundreds of players enjoyed on my servers for years. I wouldn't know if Coke's or Aoe's maps were shit because I can't do them. I can't help but feel you completely miss my point and I'm sick of being flamed for arguing what to me is just being reasonable.

When ddnet started I was a helper tester, and a tester on my maps, usually I play only on week end, but a lot, in Christmas holidays I will be more time online, so I can test some maps

So we need more open-minded Testers, right? Right?

Or at least people who have a very good(!) feeling of how people will(!) react to "New Map X".
Also, if we are increasing the quality of maps, we kinda have to teach the people how to make really "good quality" maps too. In addition to maps, the Testers should be nicer to the Mappers (doesn't matter if already an experienced one or not). As far as I can see, some people feel somewhat bad/scared, when submitting their maps, because they have been (kinda) harshly turned down before. I'm talking about a tester that hasn't seen the effort that the mapper has put into its map. Just because the made mistakes have been made by others before, doesn't mean, that the Mapper did this on purpose.

I'd love to help out.

I completely agree with you, Appdx <3
Would be nice to welcome you as a tester again.

I read the testing guide and the mappers rules a lot of times and i know how to test a map.
Watching not only at the bugs but at the design & gameplay.

I think the testers are no so much, and for me, more ddnet maps = more fun.
So can i be a tester?

I'd like to talk about the reticence of DDNet's acceptance of maps a little. Not just the fact that I think testers tastes don't much up with a lot of the player base (my maps get TONS of positive feedback, but testers hate them.)

But I feel like deen has wanted not to release too many maps at one time. The player base would love a LOT more maps, in my opinion, at least in novice and moderate.

You could DOUBLE the amount of novice maps you have in ONE day and people would appreciate it I think. I understand wanting to "trickle" them out slow, and sometimes it can make sense. Maybe think about the weaker player base and the variety they'd like to have, as probably 80% of ddnet maps are pro level. I think ddnet should pass maps faster than it does, but it's just my opinion, I won't press it any more.

Another thing I would like to mention about map testing: As Broken already wrote in another thread, we should try to determine whether a map will be released or not right at the beginning! I know, that it can be difficult, but right after a new map is uploaded we should do a quick testrun (dont focus on minor bugs there) and determine if this map will be released or not. Then we write that decision in the thread and stick to that. After that is done we can focus on really testing the map in detail and show/fix minor things. I can understand the mappers that spent countless hours on fixing their maps, just to see that the map got rejected a few days later, so idk but it has to be changed imo.
So again, this is a really hard thing to do and decide, but I think it is the only right choice to decide right at the beginning if the map will be released or not. Oh, and of course it's also difficult if a mapper doesn't want to fix things although they are minor issues but but those exceptions can always occur and it's fortunately not the majority.

Broken, we would like to release more Novice, but the mapper don't map many Novice maps.
Most mapper do Solo, Brutal and higher Moderate.
