How to see Chinese character.

Many people who come to CHN server often say:I only see [][][] in your words...

So are we just type [][][] and hope someone understand it and answer with [][][]? Of course not! Here are two methods to see Chinese character.:)

The easiest method! Just change your language to Chinese and then you can see Chinese character

You want to play TWs with your own language? See method two.
Show
1.Open DDnet/data/fonts folder
2.Delete DejaVuSansCJKName.ttf
3.Copy and paste DejavuWenQuanYiMicroHei.ttf. So you have two DejavuWenQuanYiMicroHei.ttf now.
4.Rename the copy one to DejaVuSansCJKName.ttf
All done!

Does IME input work properly?

When you are using Chinese characters do you sometimes get lags when a chat message appears? If this has been fixed, we should consider enabling it for everyone.

IME work properly but still have some problems. If you want to type Chinese you should type Pinyin first and then choose a word you want. like that.

I type "smg" and press 1to type "什么鬼".But when you play TWs with fullscreen you can't see the IME,so you don't know what Pinyin you had typed and which word you should choose.
As for the lags. I have never heard about that and didn't have this problem. My friends didn't have it too.
BTW,CHN server seems like lose connections to DDnet for 2 days, why?

You can see Chinese characters when you switch to Korean and Japanese as well.

IME hasn't been working since I reported it. :(

At first it worked for Korean, though slightly wonky, but now it's unusable. Same with Japanese.

Some people seem to have problems, not sure why it's not everyone: https://github.com/ddnet/ddnet/issues/537

DDNet is getting hard DoS attacks for ~2 weeks that might affect all our servers. Nothing we can do except wait, sorry about that.

It seems like a big problem... Is there any solution for it?

@deen, i think the issue you reference is about rendering characters, the text render update made chinese fonts useable at all, before it was lagging, because of character upload. (also see https://github.com/ddnet/ddnet/issues/809, do you still have rendering lags @Pathos?)
