About 2 months before the birthday I offered to organize a big birthday-event.
A 3-day tournament with brand new maps, as well as "mass tee events", mapper competitions and a new "game-map" (like Flappy Bird) were part of it.
Best of-servers and servers to show the results of the mapper competition should be online, too.
But sadly the only thing deen said was that 2 months before is too early. I didn't even get an answer to a single point of the concept, it has been only said it's too early.
So the plans were cut down and we had no birthday event...and now deen is complaining about exactly that. This is really hilarious and emberassing for whole DDNet.
At this point I want to quote an
admin:
Umm...
You went with it at beginning of may, so everything could have been perfectly planned if started, but was "too early" so instead it's middle of June, there's less than a month till birthday date, and actually only guy who - in theory - decided it's too early surely already forgot about it, the second guy who knew never shared it further with anyone, again nothing will be done, and in the end we will have typically boring as fuck event I'm probably not gonna even participate in then due to that?
(I keep his name secret, since it is part of a private conversation.)
Why where are so less tourney maps in general?
The reason is pretty simple, let me explain it with an example:
A few weeks ago the player panik came to me asking to test his map for tourney. According to him he already asked Saavik before and she declined. I declined, too. Why? Because DDNet is treating the few good testers like rats.
iMTG has frozen any cooperation with DDNet, cause our releases get delayed by egoistic and raging staff-members. They get flooded away by tons of crap releases and if you ask a staff member for some information you can be lucky if you don't get insulted.
Thus, we don't test maps for DDNet anymore and ofc also no tournament maps. But besides iMTG there is only Saavik left who could do proper tests.
I personally don't know why, but she also cut down the time she is investing into testing. So at the end there is basically no one left to do these tests.
Since many good mappers started to ignore the forum and send their maps directly to private testers, this also means that their maps don't get released anymore. E.g. I remember Silex having a new map, but no one is testing it. And well...if good mappers stop mapping cause that there are naturally also less high quality maps and with that also less possible tourney maps.
But deen...it is your own fault. You have bullied out good testers and blocked any bigger reinforcement. So stop complaining about this situation, pls. If you want to change it start with changing the treatment of good testers and then there might be more good maps to release and we could celebrate nice tournaments.
And no: Such things like Noovice! isn't what I would call 'nice'.
