Re: Botting again
Well I have no problem with permabanning cheaters on sight, but I can understand that you might not want to do that
That said I think it would be reasonable to go for public shaming if they are repeat offenders. Everytime a cheater joins the server, requests their points, requests their rank, etc. there should be a server message saying that they are a cheater. This way you can keep the rank that are presumably not cheated, but everyone will know that the finish of the cheater has no meaning.

Why admins never share details? Nor names, nor evidences... Maybe they ban them for fun (as MyStery.Fox did with me) we don't know that!

Re: Botting again
Im 'corneum and Syltoox have asked for an unban. In a response to this, since they haven't been conspicuous [is that the right word?] (and since I dislike unconditional permabans), we think we can go ahead with this. Currently the idea is to unban Im 'corneum after 2 months of ban, and Syltoox after 3, because he was on probation while he botted the previous time.heinrich5991 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 18, 2018 11:20 am We currently have no plans for unbanning these repeat offenders.
The repeat offenders are no longer welcome on DDNet servers, moderators are encouraged to kick them if they see them with slightly modified names.
What do you think?
EDIT: Latest ban date for Im 'corneum was 2018-04-18 and for Syltoox it was 2018-05-08.

Re: Botting again
I wouldn't unban someone who has botted while he was on probation. He already lost ddnet's trust by botting on his second chance, i even told that Syltoox would bot again when his second chance was given, and he did. What makes you think he won't do it again?
Re: Botting again
I think they will improve their bots. This is what I would do.
Re: Botting again
You can never stop bots/botters.
I would suggest having a server freely available for bots, maybe even a separate ranking for botters. Call it a playground and it's fine to apply some coding skills for fun in these servers. It's also a good way to learn about how bots work and learn to detect them as well.
If you wanted to apply a full measure, then an account system with a phone number attached to it would be the best solution. My guess is that this won't pass, of course. I think an account system in general should be a decent deterrent though. IP ban + account bans should be more effective than just IP + name bans.
