Re: Arcadian by Jimmy Jazz & Soapy Sandwich [Brutal 3*]
Hey all,
this is my review of the map Arcadian by Jimmy Jazz & Soapy Sandwich:
Lovely design. It has a good red/grey/blue good color combination which let the placed art design (f.e. bushes) stand out really well. It felt good to play the map. I had no problems with my eyes in any way. Every freeze was visable aswell for deep and tele for me.
The parts mostly consists of throughhooks and long part design. Still it does not get repetetive. Every time a part feels different from the other. There are not ONLY throughhook parts but many other variations, too. It plays smoothly when you use your brain. It requires a good chunk of time to figure some parts out. The balance stays throughout the map. A solid part desing and part space management.
Most of them should have been found out by now. Could be ready for release unless someone has to say smth about it or found more Bugs/Exploits.
For the rating:
- Brain: 3/5
- Skill (Difficulty): Brutal 5
- Look: 5/5
- Faily: 1/5
Best regards Rico

@Cellegen thx for the reminder. Changed it to 1/5 since there is not much to fail on the map.
@Konsti you do not need to make a map with faily parts to have it up to 5* Faily does not equal difficulty of the map

Yeah thank you Rico, really appreciate it.
I noticed a couple spots where there wasnt freeze placed behind tiles and some wrongly placed quads. I hope i fixed most bugs now. But there might be very minor bugs left.

Sorry, but the map bored me. I have no motivation to play neither test it until the end. Imo the most of the parts are just timewaster since there are no real ideas behind them. I wouldn't mind when they would be well mapped but.... Personally I would suggest you to start a new map and try to map your parts with a focus on an idea. (means no long basic drags between the real trick or whatever). It might be useful for u to know what kind of map you make, which features you want to use before u start mapping. Also leave space or a filler part (with much space) between your parts. It's painful to play with this missing elements. I'm also no fan of this messy mapstyle but please don't be mad. It's just my honest opinion. Hopefully this text is enough to count as aprayer. :p

Re: Arcadian by Jimmy Jazz & Soapy Sandwich [Brutal 3*]
Sorry but when you say they have no real idea behind them, is that because they take a while to figure out how to do them? Because i know i had ideas before going into making the parts.
You tested my map a few months ago. And you just left towards the end. Without giving me any idea as what to do next. Sorry to say but thats quite rude and just lazy on your part as a tester. I know you do it in your free time, but a little heads up two months ago would have been awesome on your part. But maybe next time.
Maybe you could try clarify what you did like? Because unlike a lot of mappers i didn't take 2 days/weeks to create the map. It took many months and a lot of work. Not even a single screen shot to go on with, do you really expect me to improve with your vague 'tips'.
You post that utterly insane map that barely anyone would even attempt to finish. And you think that is worth releasing? Please explain how this mapper planned all his parts, when he attempted to make this map. Cause honestly it feels completely 'random' in the same way. Just you know, 100 times harder.
Sorry to say but your honest opinion didn't really help me improve as a mapper. I understand the parts are long and hard, but im trying to improve the players on ddnet. Not make maps with parts we have seen about 1000 times now. Thats honestly how your maps feel to me. But hey, they were mapped decently so you can just push it how you feel.
Thanks for your delayed review.
