If you want to play on the ddoser server then you are actually supporting him to do it more. Re: DDos is real
As you can see here: https://ddnet.tw/stats/server/#ger.ddnet.tw the german servers are under attack pretty much all the time in the last days and are as of writing this post.
As already mentioned there are unofficial ddnet servers out there. I can, however, not recommend playing there. First of all all the ranks you get there will obviously not endup in our official database and thus also not on our website. Additionally the owners of this servers could do some nasty things with the data you give them by playing there. And of course there is what Ryozuki said.

Re: DDos is real
Is there any way to prevent DDoS attacks? I don't know much about network administration, but the situation is pretty bad. :c
Maybe we could at least block repetitive connections in the application layer?

Re: DDos is real
Due to the protocol teeworlds uses preventing attacks is about impossible. The only way we could prevent ddos-attacks is by somehow making the ddosers stop attacking :/

Re: DDos is real
Maybe we could isolate DDNet Client traffic through some new, different protocol and direct the vanilla traffic through some kind of firewall (dunno how to name such a traffic limiting app)?
That would prioritize DDNet Client users, but I think it's better to have some players able to play instead of nobody.

Re: DDos is real
Just curious, what's wrong with protocol? Do you know what ddosers actualy do to decrease performance?
I gotta go. There's a dude next to me and he's watching me type, which is sort of starting to creep me out. Yes dude next to me, I mean you.
