DaMap & DaMap 2
Hi guys
Let me start by first and foremost stating that these are NOT my maps, nor am I actually aware of who the original map creator or have any experience in creating/editing maps myself.
Back when we had our South African servers running off oMod, these two maps were on our equivalent of the DDNet Moderate servers. Have some good memories running these two maps and would love to see them up again somewhere (can't even find any servers hosting this map anymore!)
By my guesstimate I'd place them as a 1/2-star moderates. (maybe even Novice or OldSchool...?)
Do let me know what you guys think - I personally think they're fun and very well made maps (with my limited knowledge of mapping acknowledged) and would love to see them as an addition to DDNet if at all possible
I've seen some map submissions with accompanying .cfg files - are these needed? Or only if the maps have specific tunes/requirements? These are supplied as is located in my Teeworlds maps folder.
Thanks in Advance!

Re: DaMap & DaMap 2
The mapper is 19michael95 and both maps are currently hosted at ddmax servers.
I really like those maps and it would be nice to add them, but we should do nothing without mappers permisson (+ we should probably not 'steal' two addtional ddmax maps..)

Maps are stuff any mapper could map nothing special no creative parts
worse versions of purple panic that are too easy
.cfg files are for server tunes or tunezones

Drat - I actually had no idea. That is rather disappointing Took a hunt after seeing your post yesterday and found the map hosted on the DDRaceMax servers as you said. While it is great to see it is still around, I would love to be able to play it again on a server that doesn't provide me with 200 ping >.<
Yeah, sure, it is a lot easier than, for example, Purple Panic, but although (admittedly) the map itself isn't the hardest, I don't think comparing it to Purple Panic is a fair comparison. I see the Purple Panic more as a challenge (I enjoy them a lot because of that!), while DaMap is, to me anyways, a nice middle-ground between PP and the (too easy for me) novice maps.
I often find myself feeling a big gap in between the Novice maps and the Moderate maps for that very reason. While there are a few easy-ish Moderate maps, they seem very few and far between and I personally don't think there's all that much on DDNet for players who can easily finish the Novice maps, but are looking for some in-betweeners to get them up to Moderate level.
I find DaMap has quite a nice and varied mix of different puzzles (sure, maybe nothing brand new or signature to the map) to allow you to learn all the core elements of Moderate maps, while not being too hard and ending up making you want to kill someone.
Just my 2 cents.
With all due respect given (I am a big fan of your maps) I'm not so sure I agree, and I find that evaluation of the map a tad harsh.Ama wrote:Maps are stuff any mapper could map nothing special no creative parts

-Be creative! Do not steal parts or create parts that are very similar to parts on other maps. Instead use your fantasy and create something unique or improve existing parts significantly.

Absolutely. We should consider these maps. Is anyone in touch with 19michael95 and could ask him what he thinks of hosting these maps on DDNet?Grim_Fandango wrote:I often find myself feeling a big gap in between the Novice maps and the Moderate maps for that very reason. Re: DaMap & DaMap 2
It specifically says "Made for DDracemaX" on these maps, so I'd be more comfortable if we get an OK from 19michael95. Closing for now.
