Random lag spikes/ wth is this?

Post by mingsuk »

It's really hard to enjoy the game with lags like these. I would like to know if there is anyone who has faced same problems as I have and if there is a way to fix them :/

Teeworlds is very sensitive to the smallest network lags, while other games might be more resilient. To me this looks like a regular network problem like a delayed or lost packet, maybe because of your wifi, maybe some other member of your home using the internet.

You can watch network problems in ctrl-shift-d ctrl-shift-g, second graph.

Ahh, It might be my wifi, at first thought that the problem might be in tee's as I have had some problems with it already, but I guess this time it's wifi and fixing the lag will be aids. Thanks for help guys <3<3<3

Man, impossible to play without lagspikes through wi-fi.
Wi-fi is a wireless technology, that means u will have spikes cause of electromagnetic field iteractions. It's impossible to fix, because it nature limits of radiowaves. Even u will play from 1 mm from wi-fi spot.
Another thing - wi-fi has automatic seek function. It means ur device automatically scanning other spots. And it causes lag spikes. As i know it hardcoded in wi-fi chip and can't be removed.
Wi-fi will close to a port cable connection when it will reach 10 Ghz standart. But on these frequencies signal will move maximum for a 5-10 meters. It's the attenuation natural limit of radiowaves.

You have, but get used to play with it.
It is impossible to have data transfer without packet spikes and recovers via wi-fi, even very short, like 0,5 ms latency for checksum matching and recovery of packet. It is physics of radiowaves (on which wi-fi works to transfer modulated signal through).
If u try using cable to router u will see the difference.
