Hi there,

https://github.com/ddnet/ddnet/commit/1 ... 4736e7e9d8

The above link is the commit that removed the emojis. Currently, I won't have access to my computer where I can compile for Windows and I won't have access to it for months.

If someone can put this commit into 11.1.5, I would greatly appreciate it. There are others that are waiting on me to compile it, therefore we would greatly appreciate it.

I tried it but failed to integrate it with the new text buffering system from here: https://github.com/ddnet/ddnet/pull/1081

Maybe Jupeyy can help, he's on Discord as Jupstar: https://github.com/ddnet/ddnet/commit/8 ... 1183dd5909

i wish i know some thing about coding now, but i do know that you don't need a PC to get something compiled, AppVeyor is used commonly. here's an example https://github.com/ddnet/ddnet/pull/1120, to get the .exe(Build) just click "continuous-integration/appveyor/branch" & then "Artifacts"

don't ask me my it's done that way but i think few compile builds for them selfs anymore. Deen has it done automatically every night https://ddnet.tw/news/nightly-builds/
i will be downloading this if it happens too!

I think persuasion is the only way to go. Let's take a look at this vote:

viewtopic.php?f=3&t=6391

It's very close to half of the voters that wants it. The numbers difference between a majority and minority is miniscule, so I'm a little disappointed on the direction it took and how it was handled, as well as the responses. It just turned out to be extreme opinions voiced without much explanations, when the vote was so close that the conversation should have been a lot more moderate.

I think the sensible way to go is to have emoji available in game, but turn it off by default. Instead, the effort was redirected into completely taking it out of the game.

I think the only way is to ask deen to reconsider it, but I'm not entirely sure how to approach this. I know that the deen and co. are understanding people, so I'm sure that if they still don't want to implement it, they will have a good reason and I would be satisfied with that, but we didn't get a response from the devs about it, at least not much of an explanation in the patch notes, announcements, or replies in the thread. I think people would be less disappointed in general if there was more communication behind it, but since the community loves the game anyway, there wasn't much of a backlash. What do you think? Do you think we should approach deen about it once more? How do we approach this with a more balanced view?

i think there is a disconnect from the community & it's mostly are (the community at large) fault. they prefer to not discuss this type of thing after a decision has been made, this i understand, it makes more tension that needs not be.

i'm disappointed also, we made a mountain out of a mole hill, we couldn't wait to squash Emojie's, we didn't give it a fair chance be fore we doomed it to fail.

also as i have said "adding the same Emoji's back in to the client is a bad solution,"

Peace! (remember the Human!)

P.S. Deen Will read what is written here, what more & kind of an "approach" do you want?

I am sad because I started to use emojis and liked them but then they were removed completely. You just downgraded WhatsApp to SMS! I don't know what is the problem to make it an option :(
