viewtopic.php?f=3&t=6391

It's very close to half of the voters that wants it. The numbers difference between a majority and minority is miniscule, so I'm a little disappointed on the direction it took and how it was handled, as well as the responses. It just turned out to be extreme opinions voiced without much explanations, when the vote was so close that the conversation should have been a lot more moderate.
why you posting a stupid lola poll instead of the official poll by deen?

You are stupid and the official poll too. We had to vote for adding emojis first, so my poll is the only legit!

Maybe Jupeyy can help, he's on Discord as Jupstar: https://github.com/ddnet/ddnet/commit/8 ... 1183dd5909
remove the new text buffering system or make 2 client versions. one with this new useless system and one with emojis and the old system. For real: who needs the new system?

Hmm maybe the poll could have been:
a) Remove
b) Make it optional, off by default
c) On by default

To quote Star Wars, only Sith deals with absolutes! DDNet isn't a communication device, therefore we should remove the chat system completely! Haha jokes aside, maybe I'll try asking Jupeyy once more next weekend. The problem is that there has been a lot of work put into both emojis and the new text rendering system, therefore I don't know how Jupeyy or deen or any other dev would be able to comb it out.

I think for now, we'll have to wait maybe until version 12. I don't think there's a good chance of convincing a dev at the moment. Perhaps in the future, an issue that affects the text rendering that makes emoji fixing easier can make this happen, however slim of a chance that may be. It's rather unfortunate.

if emojis  are optional its gonna be annoying :angryface-skintoneblack: for the people :man_with_turbans::skin-tone-4: not :negative_squared_crosss_mark: using them
