Improvements? for MapTest(Server) + Points

Heyho,


First MapTest(Server):

I talked about this with hi_leute, but with this post he won't forget + I anyways want to post the improvement for points, so I can add this.

I think there are too many ppl, who have the password for the test servers and often people get disturbed (Lady Saavik.. :D), so this could be changed more often and I think it would be great if there's a test server for which just the official testers have the pw.

Then, Imo the admins should add a poll in every New Map testing thread (Forum) where only testers can vote if they are for or against the map release. Of course they have to test it before + justify their reason in the comments. => Better overview.


Points System:

I think some ppl know this Problem: You race a moderate map, but it's so long that you need let's say 50 mins to finish and only get like 8 points..
There should be two catgeories for the points: 1. the difficulty Novice-Brut 1-5* and 2. the length (for example 1-5*). The problem with the length is that some people are faster than others, but I think you can for example count the parts and decide on this basis how many * the map gets for the length.

1. Not only (trial)testers have pw. And with a server for only testers you would know who published the pw cause there arent this much tester.

2. Welf told me as he was Admin, that only testers decide together if a map gets released, even if experienced players have a nice opinion. But even if im wrong this poll would be nice.

3. Was just a suggestion to improve the server, if it doesn't work im at least happy that I tried to help.

Allright, many ppls have pw, but I see no any problem here while they not started do shit. As for me, for example, I`m as trial tester in past, have pw, and can come and help testers with testing or test it by myself, drop the post about map, making testers life easily this way. Thats fine, true?
Another question(which should be in external section) - changing pw for servers, removing part of ppl who cant connect to server no longer

3.Yea, ideas thats cool, thx for sharing. I`m just explaining how its works, and why, imo, its shouldnt be changed.

guys just change password to a one that is long not like actual one. Lot of people say password but if ita long its easier to forget it.

Also you woupd need to change pw every month and post it in internal.

Also, imo the points system actually is good enough, i like it. No need to change it because of length, wjen you finish a long hard map you feel good by finishing it not by just getting some numbers called points

Teengoten, when you talked with me about the testing stuff i already told you that we work on similar things.
Changing the points in that way is just not doable, cause all maps need a new rating, which would end up in much work and useless war.

In the end it doesn't matter how maps are rated because if you want to be in the top of the points list you need to finish them all anyway. And smart players roughly look at a map before they play them.. especially when they aren't pros

Most important skill for ddrace player. Sadly, but only few of the thousands have it. Others plays like "gogogogo, oh shit i didnt see that". :lol:

That's true, but originally I meant: Don't play maps that are too hard for you. Take a rough look at the map and you will soon know: "Nope, I'm too bad for this"
