Deep fly as a server tuning.
Deep fly as a server tuning.
Hi. I like deep fly feature. It's new and really interesting way of solo fly with dummy. And I think it has potential. But the problem is that it works SUPER shitty for many players. My idea is to add it as a server tuning so it would work for everyone (if mapper add this tuning to his map ofc). It's not gonna be a server hack but a separate server side feature like jetpack for example.
Actually I already did this and compiled the server to check how this works.
You can check it too on my test server called "milk's deep fly test", password is 335.
Notes:
What do you think about this?

Notes:
- You don't need to change binds. Second hit from dummy generates by server.
Works with vanilla and any non-DDnet clients too.
What do you think about this?

Re: Deep fly as a server tuning.
I tested it with a ping of 120ms and more.
It works really well, even w/o dummy and with a human. In that way it is a nice feature wich can be used w/o destroying other maps.
I vote for implementing this!
Still to answer if we should disable the old dummy hammer somehow or not.

Re: Deep fly as a server tuning.
Yea, nice, milk! 80-120 unstabil ping but its still 100% hit thats cool. But imo it should become as option(like dumy copy moves or hammer dummy) for deepfreezed players but possible not only with dummy. Becouse its already possible using bind, making this posibility just opened deepfly for players with bad connection.
Anyway I`m for new cool features for ddnet!
Edit: Probably its even better then fixing dummy copy moves

Have no idea is this easy to do, just an idea...

Server-sided? Hmm... I could imagine the code to be a little hacky :b
