This will probably result in a masterserver ban :D You are taking things too far, on the one hand you want to become an independent game with its own steam entry etc, but on the other hand you use teeworlds masterserver's and now you even want to advertise too?

In my opinion thats not fair. DDNet should go its own way.

Exactly that is the point why the Steam workshop in general is a good thing, cause modder can publish their stuff close to the game, but the devs have still no responsibility for this.

The problem between Steam workshop and the way how teeworlds is being modded is, that the modders just supply a comletely new executable. Replacing the native game executable in any way (even by hand) is not allowed by Steam and therefore not possible by workshop of cause.
Workshop may only work for e.g. adding new skins, maps, etc...
