Got Attacked via DDOS
Got Attacked via DDOS
Hey, I got attacked by one (probably more than one) player. Is there any possibility that he got any access to my private information on my computer? I mean, is there a chance that he can do more harm than just ddosing me?
Best regards,

Re: Got Attacked via DDOS
Mostly the attackers get your IP address from correlating you refreshing the Internet tab in server browser, or from you joining their server of course.
There is always a chance that there is more to it, but probably they can't do more than DDoS you.

yeah, i was sure that nothing more was possible, but the attacks kept over night, for like an hour, even after multiple router-restarts

You're not using some dyndns service, are you? Did you download some strange TW client? Some software like skype might be leaking your IP address. It's also possible that your ISP keeps giving you the same IP address even after a restart.

I'm not using any dyndns services, nor have I downloaded any other clients than the one from the official TW website. I dont even have installed skype on my laptop. It's quite mysterious how the found out my IP. Do you have any other ideas how they managed it?

Monitor the outgoing traffic from your computer? Maybe some other application is leaking information.
Have you verified that restarting the router gives you a sufficiently random new ip?
Your router might also be leaking some sufficiently identifying information, like a model and version number, so that the attacker can scan through a few subnets to find you again.
