(Solved) Very big mapping problem (map bug?)

Post by pixel »

YESTERDAY I started mapping a new map (novice 1☆ - for real beginners). Every 5 minutes I testet the mapped part. I could save it with ctrl+s and then press ctrl+shift+e i could play it without any problems .. but today I startet Testserver and played a bit my map. Then i wanted to edit something and while i SAVE THE MAP the client broke ... or When i start client, and start mapping i CAN edit the map but when i join the testserver the client crashed!! its real shit :( i want normal mapping.. PLEASE HELP ME! ... maybe the map has a bug? idk ...
Here is the map: Please try if the same happens to you! - I think it can be a mapbug because i did this with an other map and nothing happens ... (this is first map i mapped in update!)

(DDNet Version 9.1, My PC: Windows xp 32bit)

I thought god, he made huge layers for sure
and my guess was right!
you made 3000x3000 layers, so don't wonder that strange things happen!
it saves and loads forever because of it

generic images shouldn't be embedded
I fixed these things for you, should be better now:

Just think about it. 3000*3000 is 9 million blocks, and that for only 1 layer. Generally speaking 500x500 is more than enough (250.000 blocks) if you are doing no horizontal or vertical map. If you are not wasting too much space you can easily map with 300*300 (90.000 blocks). Especially on novice since these maps tend to be rather short.

Btw with your 3000*3000 layers you could have mapped 900 100*100 parts. Just imagine that :D

At least the "big mapping problem" title fits well :p

Kind of OT: I vote for popup message with info that 500x500 is already huge map (shown during starting first map), or cfg-command to limit max layers size (until someone remove the line) >.>
