mapping styles (poll)
lately i heard that many mappers do the design before the actual gameplay, which was really odd to me because i think its harder to fimd new stuff this way.
and mappers do it, who i thought would do it like me.
(i hope this is ok in official discussions)

Never did it in a other way as design first. Main reason why i do that is because it’s so fcking annoying for me to add the design later (i know that from maps i didn't mapped alone (hi storm)).
Also i don’t think i could be more creative if i map with entities only first. But i guess the whole thing is just a matter of taste.

Same here
Not that I'm very experienced with mapping, but when I first started nullptr I had some serious problems making it feel "right"
I chose this style/theme

Before, firstly i did design and then gp, but actually i do gp firstly and then design it

get a structure, map in entitities and then add a design fitting your structure thats how a good map is done
mapping in entities is better so you can test and adjust your parts easier and then in the last step apply your design on to a fully tested map
the problem is most mappers do this:
1. design, more or less ugly
2. no structure, gameplay is made to work and nothing else doesnt look good doesnt feel good
3. parts are mapped, once tested if they work, not checked for bugs or improved... it works? okay fine next part
and done is your shit map!

i do the gameplay first but with a design in my head. it's mostly grass + big unhhook like in adrenaline.

I start by coming up with a nice design, then a structure fitting it. I map entities first and add full design to small parts of the map as I go, when I'm sure they are the way I want to keep them.
