10. Your map may not contain design or parts of design (special tilesets, color shemes, layers) taken from other maps without the original mapper's/creator's permission.

This was always an unwritten rule, but apparently it wasn't obvious to everyone.
This was never an unwritten rule. Many, many maps have stolen tilesets. You can decline half of the maps in Map-Testing now.

Not stealing mapres is just common sense, but until now the only thing stopping you from doing it was your own conscience. It's basically like pirating software.

Teeworlds and DDNet are Open Source projects. It is just the nature of such an project that parts of it (e.g., graphics) will be re-used. Many great designs we can see on DDNet do rely on that.
Surely no one should just steal a mapres and pretend it's his or something like that. But re-using them is just normal.

By your logic anything and everything can be taken and reused. You won't release a stolen map with changed design, so why release a map with stolen design?

Nearly every map contains parts which are just re-used. Also yours.

Wtf jao stop arguing like that. We are talking about design, not about map names.

I have to agree with hi_leute_gll, much stuff is "stolen", if we use your definition of "stealing".
Yeah let's have ugly maps with the most boring tilesets again.
When you are posting the map, you are also uploading the tileset. If you don't want others to use your tileset, just don't upload it anywhere xD

Vanilla teeworlds doesn't allow ripping tilesets either, a third party tool is used. You aren't uploading the mapres for people to use, you make use of it to make your own map look good. You don't go to a museum to take art home, but to enjoy looking at it.

They started to compare it to other stuff, not me :P

Also to clearify this: Commonly used non-vanilla tilesets aren't covered by the rule, it's mostly about special, new custom tilesets. And if you want to use one of those, making the effort to ask for permission should be the least you should do.
