More Tournaments?

Hey guys!
Some players wanted more tournaments, so i decided to ask east about a "low budget" tournament. You maybe don't know, but a tournament is alot of work and that is the main reason why there are no tournaments (we don't have somebody to actually host the tournament).
So what do you think about more tournaments, but with less technical support? The biggest difference would be that there is no global broadcast.
The simplest tournament would be e.g. a map release at 8 pm without any tournament server. Maybe we need another name for this kind of tournament, since it might be too much different to the original ddnet tournament.
We still don't know what to do about ddos/attacks like ddos

So what do you think about this? Should we do this every week? Every 2 weeks?

Having this every week will result in having low quality maps, since it obviously takes some time to map and test. I would say either make this happen every month or whenever you are sure you actually have a good map.

east suggested to mark "first finish" at every map, but i think that would be ignored after some time. if we really want everybody do show up, it needs to be more special

edit: LanuX suggested to make tournaments at unfinished maps, so we maybe finish these

I would suggest to add "tournaments points" so the top5 teams that finish first gets

RANK1: 15pt
RANK2: 10pt
RANK3: 5pt
RANK4: 3pt
RANK5: 1pt

Easy to cheat though, since maps area known in advance. So you can practice before.

So we could ask the mappers to keep their maps secret, if they want tournament with it.
We could also make unfinished or rare finished maps tournament maps.

Somehow we will find a map at least every 3 weeks i guess

Yeah, it's definitely a good idea. However the map should not be publsihed in forum before and once a month seems enough for me. I think it get's to common if we do it more often. The reward for the first finish in every map is not really a good idea in my opinion.
Tournaments for unfinished released maps is something, that is even more close to this "finish together"-prinicipal suggested by Forris (see links). So, yeah that might be good idea as well. Although this might be limited to really good players only.
