Gores server?

We don't have the resources to provide separate servers for Qshar. They could be integrated into DDNet, so that you can vote to change server to Gores type. I don't think they would be happy with that. They never asked for help with hosting. Does anyone know if they would want that?

Meanwhile Bossk contacted me, saying that he wants to run his own Gores servers, and would like to know where best to host them. So I offered him that he can run DDNet Gores on all our servers. Doesn't cost us any more resources and should be self-organized.

I dont understand. There are aren't enough resources to provide servers for qshar but for another ddnet-type it would suffices. I bet if there were qshar servers sponsored by ddnet, more players would play on gores server. So you can shutdown some ddrace servers.

I wouldn't want to shut down DDNet servers. When Gores runs as a DDNet gametype (like solo, oldschool, novice, ...) it can be dynamically changed into another server by the players themselves if there is a need.

It would run as part of DDNet, so would work automatically everywhere DDNet runs.

I didn't get a thing, sry. Deen, you haven't to do new ddnet servers for let players do gores. You must just put in the VOTE OPTION → gores server, but you don't need more servers, they are enough.

Oh, I didn't know about Qshar servers having points, that dismisses one argument from my list.

But anyway, the rest of my previous post still indicates a need to add Gores server option to votes (just to be clear: I also meant this, not buying new servers).


BTW. Maybe we could award players both DDNet and KoG points after finishing on our Gores servers, if QshaR and FlipLipp allow us to?

But they are not Solo maps (and not standard DDRace maps), as I stated before:

I think adding a Gores server is a good idea, because Gores are visibly different from typical DDRace maps - they aren't solo, like Solo maps (because tees can rescue each other), but they also aren't focused on direct cooperation, like standard DDRace maps (because they don't include parts based on cooperation of separated or differently equipped tees). They should be considered a distinct kind of maps.

It would reduce fun and make them much more difficult. :c

solo maps don't need solo tiles on solo server
solo server is only for maps for one player
