An idea to make teeworlds more popular again

Hey,

I am playing teeworlds since 0.5 and I absolutely love this game (Now after a few years break I started playing again :D) - the only thing that bugs me is the small community.
Well the steam version didn't do anything about it . _.
So last year I watched some of the "games done quick" (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Games_Done_Quick) which is a charity event where everyone can participate while speedrunning a game.
So why not teeworlds? I mean if some of the best players here would speedrun a map like hardcore x or aim x.0 after practicing it a few weeks it would be very good to watch even if you don't play teeworlds. And if done well it would get more players to play the game.

Just an idea I thought off...

Actually teeworlds community grew up, but just ctf servers. Because client comes with default option "standard maps, gamemode..." so new players don't even know other mods exists.

Teeworlds has a small community, but that ain't so bad actually, if you play often you might get some friends to play with and also be known by half server.

DDNet wanted to go on steam, and it has been greenlight but process is stopped. I think it's because we don't know how much ddnet will live. (i think), ddnet has to be more prepared to it, there are some projects going on, like the tutorial (hi, timakro! :D).

About the AGDQ, it's a good event, but you should call milk to be physicaly there xD, which won't happen imo. (https://ddnet.tw/ranks/)

Also if teeworlds community grows up some things can be good, but it would kill what a small community have.

Big community = More ddosers, toxic players (?), more trolls, etc...

Idk :P

I know what you mean but I fear that some day ddnet will die.

On 0.5 I always played tournament blocking - There was also a small community doing stuff like clan wars etc. But somewhen the servers went offline because there weren't as many players as needed to make it worth holding them. And I guess that it will happen with ddnet sooner or later as well

DDnet has the biggest tw community in teeworlds, i don't think that's the problem.

And actually, ddnet was "revived" by community i would say. (It actually shut down for 2-3 days if i remember)

I have to partly agree with Ryozuki.
DDnet is already (one of) the biggest communities in tw and we already have a good amount of players. Much more popularity and player just means more problems. So, this should not be the primary goal right now. As I already wrote in many other threads, I totally love that small-ish game atmosphere where everyone knows each other. It's just a nice feeling and makes playing even more enjoyable. Furthermore I think we already have solved a few crisis, if you want to name it like that. So, I don't think that ddnet will die soon because of that.

So yea, this might be a very selfish point-of-view and of course you might disagree. But I dont want ddnet to be any bigger! To be honest, I don't even like the idea of eventually releasing it on steam. But that's not the topic here .__.
Let's see what happens in the future.

And if there are maps and players for this competition, then gogo.
I would love to see aaa and Virus2k again, this team is magic <33

Deen once told me that the problem is that its still "teeworlds". DDnet should be its own game. A copy version of Teeworlds. If i ask mates if they know teeworlds they mostly say yes. But only the Vanilla Teeworlds. DDRace is a MOD for a small game. YouTubers are the best way to make DDRace even popular.
