About DDnet
-Shittiest Organisation( Team groups without any Organisation are useless)and nearly half of them are inactiv .
-Guys cant plan things for the next days and if so they do it really Bad.
Example: A map should have released today and another one on friday..HMH said that he is not online at friday and today he was also offline and no one cared about these releases and they were planned long ago. Another example is that we wanted to know a certain release -time for my map and the the only Person we could ask was aaa because no one of the technical Team was there .
P.S. i dont care about punctuation

Re: About DDnet
You have to understand that the people who run DDNet do it in their free time without any payment. Help is welcome and if you can't reach someone from the administration directly you can post in the forum as well.

Re: About DDnet
Sure it's just a hobby...but they still take the responsibility for servers with thousands of players. And if they shit on their tasks then they potentially spoil the hobby of many many people.
I guess tobu.'s point isn't that a single admin wasn't available, it's rather that there isn't any kind of organization to handle such situations.
The admins tell mappers when their maps get released, they (and their friends) are looking forward to this day, cause it is just great to see the map played on DDNet. But then this release just doesn't happen - an admin isn't available and the other admins aren't able to handle the situation.
That is just a thing of bad communication and organization and is very dissapointing for mappers. So it is just normal that the mappers get mad then and complain about this. That it is a hobby project is no excuse for this, cause enough other admins were (theoretically) available the whole weekend...

Re: About DDnet
Yes, that's why I proposed to stop releasing maps on DDNet permanently, but apparently people were not happy with that solution either.hi_leute_gll wrote:The admins tell mappers when their maps get released, they (and their friends) are looking forward to this day, cause it is just great to see the map played on DDNet. How do you know what each admin is doing in their time? As far as I know HMH is the only admin capable of releasing maps and he said he would not be available.hi_leute_gll wrote:That it is a hobby project is no excuse for this, cause enough other admins were (theoretically) available the whole weekend...

Re: About DDnet
Keep in mind that everyone has their own lives and responsibilities to attend to. Communication is fine, it's just that nobody (who knows how) was available at the time to release the map.

You reject the help, that's the reason that there is only 1 capable to do it.deen wrote:Yes, that's why I proposed to stop releasing maps on DDNet permanently, but apparently people were not happy with that solution either.hi_leute_gll wrote:The admins tell mappers when their maps get released, they (and their friends) are looking forward to this day, cause it is just great to see the map played on DDNet. Re: About DDnet
Mmh, I played with one about an hour and chatted with another one, so ofc I know that they are there? Also a guy who can race an hour could (from the point of time) do a 10 mins task?deen wrote:How do you know what each admin is doing in their time?
It's currently not deen who reject the help by others. It's not even anyone doing this. Applications for the technical site just get ignored, cause no one of the Technical Team's leaders gives a fuck.Ryozuki wrote:You reject the help, that's the reason that there is only 1 capable to do it.deen wrote: As far as I know HMH is the only admin capable of releasing maps and he said he would not be available.
Just take a look in the Staff Recruitment - you will see that there were some applications.
(Wich doesn't mean that deen couldn't help out with the release, especially in such rare cases which happen maybe once per month.)
Then just tell the mappers that the release won't happen instead of letting them wait all the day?dinner wrote:Keep in mind that everyone has their own lives and responsibilities to attend to. Communication is fine, it's just that nobody (who knows how) was available at the time to release the map.
PS: Mappers have also their own lives and responsibilities, some even try to get a free day for the release so that they can be there.

Re: About DDnet
After 10 years ddnet will implement vote system. For map releases, for map quality ranking, for map test process, etc.
Easy thing, i can implement this system into this forum in 1 day (i have this system at two live forums with 10k+ users). Condorse system. Most effective vote system in the world.
But nobody cares.
Then u would just open topic and do a vote:
1. Map contains bugs.
2. Map needs balance.
3. Map has graphical issues.
.....
n. Map ready to release.
U can change ur vote each moment.
All of that will be preformated.
There is contrargument, that it will does more load on the forum. But it will does 10000% times better process. With 10-15% more load.
It totally worth it.
I can implement "like" function to posts on this forum. So u can see which opinion is most dominating. But nobody cares.
And so on.
And after 10 years mappers will not realize that NF kills speedrun idea of the ddrace. And will still wondering, why nobody does speedruns? Muahaha.
95%. Sad.

Re: About DDnet
Current system of maptesting is weird and sophisticated.
Here an easy fix:
Implement tester ranks with quantity and quality of maptesting. So ppl will run for that pts like they doing for ingame points.
They must see they progress. It will work. Otherwise all their work will be forgotten. That is a problem.
Any sort of work should be rewarded.
