I thought

"what can we do against it"

is a question and this thread is not a discussion thread WHO THE HACKER WAS. I thought this is a discussion thread about what we can do against it.

the server its UP
telnet chl.ddnet.tw 80
Trying 186.64.121.206...
Connected to chl.ddnet.tw.
Escape character is '^]'.

For security install fail2ban on that server with Port Rules
maybe five connections per IP or BAN for ten minutes

It's down for me. What location do you connect from?

That won't help against DDoS attacks affecting the whole datacenter.

The problem is that we don't have any DDoS protection on our chilean server, anyone who wants can take down the server with a few bucks. Also there is no "hacking" going on, the DDoS attack that caused the server to go down was executed by a bored kid. Now we only can hope that the hosting provider will let us keep the sever (so it'll hopefully be back online).
