I think if a map is too hard for some people like 2long (i like this map) it should get more points not less. I think its a good challenge
2long is a good example for a 0 points map ^^

i don't know if you understand the game, but that map is not really enjoyable (only for a few players maybe), so it shouldn't be supported with points. we don't want to force point hunters with annoying maps.

The idea: If you want to play a 'bad' map, do it for the fun and not for the points.

edit: there are also maps, which are impossible for some players (e.g. deepfly or dummyfly maps)
Well,
personally I love 2long it's one of the best ddmax maps which have been ever released, though I haven't finished it, it still makes a lot of fun playing it. Furthermore, imo we need more maps like 2 long :D. However, I've read that some maps wouldn't give any points anymore, so that there's a following question which needs to be answered: what about speedracing maps like 2long? would it still give points for the rank1? or is it a time waste to give the best at that map, because some ppl see it as not worth for any points and I personally love speedracing which is very underrated in this game. Also, last thing I want to mention, based on the player base who plays this game only for points, that players are very rare and if the players got a quite big amount of points, they could manage doing this map without any problems. All in all, not getting points for shit maps is a nice idea. But I think getting points for being under the top 10 should be fine too and in my point of view 2long is one of the best ddmax maps which I enjoy playing over 1 year!.

deepfly is going to get fixed for everyone or?, so they would give points anyway in the near future, and I've read that dummycopy move is also possible to do server-side.

Well I think at this point a poll would be nice, the majority decides if everything stays with the points, or if anything should get changed

Poll would still be "unfair" society decision, as more than 3/4 of active players don't use this forum

Then do some kind of poll ingame with broadcasts or votes, at different hours.

I wouldn't change anything. You would anger more people with changes than help them

But think about

If that map is 24 points only the players who are good enaugh for it would try it! And you see not that annoying map anymore.

We should not support crying people
We should support challengers
They would not cry (be annoyed) if the map is easier , 2long is a hard map only 12 points unreal but whatever

I understand you , thats my meaning ;
Choice the best solution for your way of what ddnet should be.
Our plan is to challenge players by challenging, interesting and creative maps.
It's further not our aim that only the "players who would be good enough for it" will play maps like this. Everybody should feel challenged to try maps they might not be able to do. Our definition of "annoying" doesn't mean that maps which are too hard can be annoying for casual players. You should understand it in a different way. Annoying maps are just less enjoyable maps, which has only parts that look really similar to each other. Nobody enjoys a map that just contains dummy drag parts for example. Bu every map will get the same chance here. We will check properly, whether a map is "good enough" for DDNet, without any influence of the difficulty.

Well, as the last poll ended in a huge and mostly pointless discussion we are not going to do it like this anymore. Community was focused more on "But the poll says that we are 13-12 for thess changes!" than on the best solution for DDNet.
Furthermore im quite sure that our big DDNet staff will be able to find good solutions on it's own here.

It would be nice if you could give some names of the ddnet staff :)

This argument is rather useless cause we also can say 1/5000 of the players arent stuff members its unfair too :-)
