Re: Official DDNet staff statement
We recieved several ideas and suggestions about this topic, what surely means that we will discuss about this.dinner wrote:Sounds good. With your "new ranking system", it would be great if this new DDNet could be more focused on rewarding players for ranks, instead of just collecting points. It seems that everyone has fallen under the cushiony spell of points though, so I doubt that ddrace will ever be the way it used to be.
Firstly we will setup the staff wich will manage the single sections of DDNet, if this is done this people will take care about the other staff-members and reorganize them.dinner wrote: Also, I have a question about staff/administration. Will all the current staff members stay in their positions, or will the entire structure be reworked? You mentioned a hierarchy so some more information on how that works would be nice, when it is finished being thought out.

It would be nice if you could integrate the community more in those major decisions with polls etc..

Are you going to pay for map making?

Re: Official DDNet staff statement
I hope they'll just separate the DDNet maps into 6 categories - Novice, Selected Novice, Moderate, Selected Moderate, Brutal, Selected Brutal or something, without damaging the points (maybe just separate the votes?). ^^hi_leute_gll wrote:Forris wrote:I didnt quite understand the parts with maps.
Will some be deleted and we may lose points? We are not going to delete any of the released maps.We are not sure yet, how to handle the existing points players got for their finishes on those maps.
It's good to see DDNet safe again. Thank you very much, deen and the new admins team. ^^

I second that, the current system is maybe not perfect, but it's really good and well tested.Im 'corneum wrote:To the points/ranks story i have to say how i play maps.
When a new map gets released and i know i can do it, i mostly play it once to get the points. But sometimes i really like the map so i am speedrunning it. i guess i found a good middleway between wanting a good rank, and wanting many points. I made much points in the past with racemaps and i dont want to lose them :c

Re: Official DDNet staff statement
So there is a chance to apply for any position you currently have? E.g. I can still apply for helping out in the technical sector? Or will this be restricted to non-technical staff?Onion wrote:... we will present you a staff member who cares about adding new moderators/administrators...

Re: Official DDNet staff statement
Thx for keeping DDNet alive to all responsible people <3<3<3
But i don't see the problem, with all the race and DDMax maps.
- Race maps are poor pointed solo maps, so I don't care how you will point them
- But i don't see, why you want the DDMax maps not to be pointed anymore. I think we all should be happy for every single map, thats in the DDNet universe. Even if this older maps have not the quality that u wanted, they are clearly seperatet from the DDNet maps and should be pointed. This maps also give people, who are too bad for brutal maps chances to get some more points with their abilities. And the biggest point is, that this would be unfair against all players, that putting alot of time and afford into playing this maps.
To release the DDMax maps was a decision, that was made some time ago, if the staff people now like it or not, and should be respected. If you want to change the quality of the maps, stop releasing new DDMax maps and in your eyes unworthy maps. This would be the most fair and useful decission in my eyes.
To remove all the points from DDMax maps would DDNet cost alot of reputation, i think a poll would underline that.

Re: Official DDNet staff statement
I think some 0 point maps might be helfpull to rebalance some maps. e.g. the ddmax map 2long, there are just too long drag parts, which don't make that much fun etc. so people shouldn't be forced (because of points), to finish that map.
Also in the map testing archive, there are maps i would like to release with, but many people would complain about these maps, so they shouldn't give points (e.g. the perfect jump map from Themix or the Love1-2 maps from BRONOOB, which have some cool ideas, but are annoying aswell)
