I've setup a complete clone of DDNet, just for the worst-case (search for "DDRace GER" ingame for reference).
If someone wants to setup a clone too, but is not sure how, you may contact me for questions, not for a "tutorial" please.

Just asking.

Did DDNET has to be that much work? For example updating the client every week, organizing so many Tournaments, the pressure of adding so many maps every day?

Whats the real important thing is that your have the money for the servers, what with donations is possible i think. And that u have some testers for new maps and 1 administrator that adds the maps. All the little things deen did, because he loves the project arent that important or? I think u do not have to answer every question from users or all unnaccesary little things.

Corrigate me if Im wrong, but i dont see, that it has to be more than 30 minutes work for an admin per day if you are concentrate on the important things.

Maintaining is a lot more work than hosting and organizing tournaments.

Srsly.. I dont think so.

The problem is, that your standarts are maybe too high. Deen loved that project and does alot of things that makes everything shiny but that wasnt absolutely necessary. I mean what are this big server maintaining issues? We can hold it alive on the russian way, nobody needs the ultra luxus edition, where everything is perfect.

The main points are: testers, 1 admin for posting new maps, money for holding the serves alive

Is it really that much more than this? Do we really need a daily development on the servers, the homepage and the client?

In Soviet Russia, DDNet servers maintain you! I think this was deen's idea of "rotting away," but it's a point.

Will you host servers in known locations again?
We want to keep the known locations, nethertheless we may want to give the local managment to regional hosters. If you have experiences with hosting local servers please contact us in the forum!
what do you mean with managment? e.g. 1 person who is moderator and adds other moderators?

We mean guys, who could run the servers, give direct support to the players there and maybe also employ Moderators.

But as the word may says, this is just a possible plan, there aren't any final decisions in that direction, but it would be good for us to know how many of these people are there. If there aren't enough people for this, it wouldn't make sense to follow such a plan.^^
