Country specific Tournaments

Post by stompie »

i want to hear opinions if this is a good idea for the future to make tournaments more interesting
My idea is to take any map thats about to be released (no on knows which one) and set up a mini tourny unofficial ofc set spesific people 1/2 or more depends on how many people there are to do the broadcasting on their server to say whos in lead who wins etc
Just to spice things up a bit and then the worry of trying to beat some of the best players is not there (just beat the people u regularly play with)

Would be funny, but I think we don't got the people to host it. For ZAF you could maybe do this on your own, since you're only few guys. Just don't look at new map before release and maybe ask someone to be a commentator =)

We all know who is going to win *cough* Super *cough* Darkness *cough*

Ill be last :P but its all about having fun xD

To be honest i personally love a tournament all way round as I enjoy watching the best of the best compete with each other. I already know how people in south africa play and who will probably win. Its more interesting watching the GER RUS USA players play because ZAF/SA is boring af. Imagine having a tournament with 30 players... *yawn* when you could have one with over 150 players *exciting*

Also in south africa's case, having a country specific tournament everytime.. the same people will win since we are a small community.

with them getting ddossed (spoofed whatever) i thought the local ones would avoid that with them not drawing so much attention

ZAF/SA is boring af
so thats first and second then who will get the other 8 its still a challenge and its lacal so u battle with the people u play with so you know them better what they can and cant do there for its more challenging and fun afterwords with bragging rights and so on

YES i know international are better and give more of an achievement when u get in top5 but since its suuch a big deal to organize them with this it would be possible to get a few people from each country and let them do it for their servers
but thanks for response

You know everyone speaks about DDOS but the its a reality that we must face.

Furthermore, you get people who say
"omg why cant we get servers with DDOS protection?"

People must stop complaining and contribute with donations to DDNET. I understand getting DDOS protection is not cheap but at the end of the day the money has to come out of someone elses pocket and the person who is providing the hosting has to decide how much out of their personal money they are willing to give (if that is the case)
Personally i haven't donated - not even 1 cent, to DDNET. Is that fair? No. However, I appreciate the time it took to create DDNET and the hosting theuns is providing for SA. I dont moan and complain when servers are down, because i am in no position to speak.

Persoanlly (and i could be wrong) if donations were more constant and lets say every player would donate 5 euros a month (which is a small amount but that is never the case) then the probability of getting DDOS protection would be a reality.

Look at this image.Tbh i think the players are lucky that GER and RUS are being sponsored. DDNET could have closed by now.

I understand that this may be abit off topic but it relates to the tournaments and this "why cant we have one?" --> DDOS

So let us all (hopefully) start this trend where even alittle bit of money from every player would go towards a greater cause. (p.s ill donate sometime this week. Even though i dont have to but it makes it one step closer to DDOS protection and possibly more)

so many players and yet DDNET struggles with donations. Very sad.. nowonder there is DDOSing

Somewhere in this post i could have been wrong. If that is the case, sorry i must be noob
also my english is not perfect, sorry. very rough post

I think that it's not a problem, the spoofing is the problem. If we can get that fixed i don't see a big deal organizing an tournament.
