Currently there are around 10 maps on DDNet zCatch servers and only ctf5 is played. Clearly, ctf5 is really fun and I'm sure it is the most popular zCatch map ever made. It's landscape opens up a lot of possibilities for really fancy plays as well is easy for new players to start enjoying the map and gamemode in general. When I created my map I was trying to keep it easy (yet it would look a bit complicated to a new player I think) and also have different spots for maneuvers. Yet, my main goal was to keep the gameplay fun and exciting.
Newest version of the map: Ingame screenshot (only one just to show how it looks ingame with doodads and background:
Landscape (a bit outdated):
I'm leaving it here for you to judge.

Re: ctf_sayned for zCatch
I think, that this map might be too small for more then 3 players. It feels like only half of the map.
Also, I found sun bit anoying - maybe make it less bright and big.
And landscape is moving too much, reduce para x, y, please.

I'm going to tune sun a bit really soon. What I'm planning to do exactly is to make it less flashy and bright.
I might revise the landscape, add a couple of islands, move them around just to open up some space for dem fancy maneuvers.
I will post new version as soon as I make it.

Re: ctf_sayned for zCatch
Updated the map slightly.
Map is ~33% bigger now but who cares about the numbers when the only thing that matters is that the map feels a lot bigger now (hopefully). I also have reworked the background picture and size of the map was greatly reduced. Yay.
I'm also updating the main post (will put old version under a spoiler, maybe someone would like to have a smaller version of the map for themselves, who knows!).
Let me know if I shall create a new thread so it would become a bit more visible (I don't think this is nessesary because let's be real, this forum branch is really inactive)
To download this version of the map (v1.1), see "Older versions" in main post

Re: ctf_sayned for zCatch
sayned, i do not think you should make a new threat. i am happy there are not that much post because now i can read everything being posted.
by the way, lots of people watch the forum but do not answer and the ddnet staff is not at full power atm which cause a bit of inactivity. like skywalker should say: be patient

Re: ctf_sayned for zCatch
Another fairly big update to the map!
I feel like this isn't the last update. This update doesn't change map too much. Thing I focused on this time is pretty much look of the map and some small tweaks to landscape (nothing really serious). Also: -10 kb from map size.
Won't attach any pictures right now, however I might do so later.
To download this version of the map (v1.2), see "Older versions" in main post

Re: ctf_sayned for zCatch
Possibly last update for now! Big shoutout to Teelevision for helping me gathering feedback and suggestions for the map, as well as helping testing!
What's new: more contrast between background and foreground, some slight changes to landscape (nothing really special) and very important: THIS VERSION OF THE MAP DOESN'T HAVE ANY PICK-UPS (no hearts or shields). If you will need a version with pick-ups, let me know I'll make one! Previous versions of the map have pickups!
Download link is in main post (v1.3)

Re: ctf_sayned for zCatch
It's normal for a ctfmap to have pickups but it 's your decision to limit your map as a zCatch map.

Re: ctf_sayned for zCatch
Well, previous versions of the map still have pickups. I can add pickups back in just couple of minutes if you want me to. After all, this map wasn't tested on ctf mod yet, so it might end up being not as fun and have a lot of issues that'd create unfair or unfun gameplay (like shortcuts imo are unfair, I feel like there a couple of shortcuts that would lead to some really fast flag captures)RayB. wrote:It's normal for a ctfmap to have pickups but it 's your decision to limit your map as a zCatch map.
Let me know if you want me to add pick-ups back and I will do so, but keep in mind that map wasn't tested on ctf yet (however it was tested on zCatch with various amount of players and it has recieved mainly positive feedback!)
