Custom Entities Background
Custom Entities Background
written by Index and Chairn
In the ddnet client versions 9.0.2+ you’re able to set a custom background for entities. It was a frequently requested feature and we would like to show you how to use it.
First of all you have to enable entities.
Now there are two new commands avaiable to use.
The first one indicates the map you wish as a background (eg Kobra.map).
Note: The mapfile has to be in the maps folder.
The second one indicates if you want to render tile layers from the map.
Background maps are rendered until game layer, excluding this group.
Maybe you wanna play a map in entities using the map you are playing 's background. For this purpose, just write the following line. It will use the current played map background.
Of course you can make a special background map for your own use, just like a skin. The map doesnt have to be playable. But for safety, leave game layer at the end. Oh, and you can change all these settings in the ddnet settings menu as well. But there is a 10sec protection to avoid spamming loading each time you type a key in mapname. So you won’t see the changes immediately.
