Simple Animations

You already know the basics of mapping, so why you dont try to use some animations. Believe me, its easy. Here is a step-for-step guide for a basic animation using envelopes. It should be rather easy now to adept this to similar envelopes, it works the same.

1) Click here to make animations visible in editor
2) Then click on Envelopes (right bottom corner) and at Color+

3) Click on + here, so the image is connected to the envelope

4) Move all of these points up to at atleast 1 (the value in the box)

5) Deactivate R G B (they are for the colors red green and blue) and then Activate A (this is the alpha value of the image), put it on 1 too (they should be on the same value).

6) With right click you can create a new point, drag it down a bit, now you will see something.

7) With shift+left click you can change the point of time, of the envelope points, here i move the right point to 2 seconds (the box) and the middle point at 1 seconds. You can also change all these values by writing in the boxes, there are allways some hints at the bottom.

Guide is not really full, but if you try follow this screens, and try to experement sometime its easy to get how its work. 1 Missing is that some ppl can dont know how to come to 3step(mean how to open quads properies/right click on any green point of quad)

Basically the easiest way to learn animations is not to watch tutorials all over but to try something on your own. You have to play a bit with the values and after some time you will get it. Just get a random quad and try different stuff. You will see how the quad will move.. same goes for the colour animation. But you should know what the letters stand for, like R for rotation ^^

I agree with imp, first i had no idea how animations worked. But then i remembered that one chillermap had rotating wheel, so i opened it up and looked how it was done. And that's how you learn kids.
