That's what he wrote right before saying he's disappointed from ddnet.

So I highly guess the influences through the whole ddmax story (releasing maps on ddnet which are NOT exciting and skillbased) makes him to have that opinion now.
Exactly. & the fact that ddnet don't look for good quality maps, being satisfied with quantity. Imo it should be more strict which maps that get released.
I agree, but in many locations we're really the only major server around. If we released only the best, most creative maps, as we initially set out to do, then the unreleased maps would have no place to go. Before that was the case, we told the mappers to go to DDmaX instead if their map wasn't released, as they would release it 100%.

(Also, many people complain about the opposite, that we reject too many maps.)

Instead iMTG is working on selecting a bunch of good maps and marking them as "Selected Maps", as they have done on the Novice server already: http://ddnet.tw/ranks/novice/#selected-maps

But I agree that we should reduce the number of released maps a bit. Unfortunately it's hard to reject a map for me when there is usually much more positive feedback about a map than negative one.

The thing is that... "bad" maps that end up on ddnet is played for a day or two. Sure the maps that rejected don't have anywhere else to go but it's not better that it ends up on ddnet anyway since it won't be played.
Players only say themy map(s) isare unplayable due to ignorance.

You might be able to play my maps but that doesn't mean you're fit to judge them.

Imo it doesn't hurt to add the maps if they have all basics right, and some decent gameplay. It's like deen said, DDNet is the only option for all mappers out there. So please keep that in mind before you judge. Just because some maps don't benefit you anymore or aren't original, doesn't mean another player doesn't like it aswell. I've seen many maps that I found really bad but other people liked it very much. So it's a good thing those maps at least get accepted.

Also the DDMax story is interesting. DDMax was very popular, but I found most maps on there just plain bad and boring. So you then had the difference between DDNet & DDMax. If the map wasn't on ddmax, it was on DDNet and also the other way around. Now imagine DDMax didn't exist and DDNet only accepting the maps that were originally on DDNet and denying the maps that were on DDMax. All those players who played on DDMax wouldn't have be able to enjoy those maps. In your eyes they might have been bad maps, but for them they were nice and they enjoyed them.

I think we should all stop judging DDNet and stop judging the releases. It doesn't hurt anyone, if you don't like something then just ignore it.

Most mapper are just happy to see their maps on DDNet, even if it is just for a few hours, they maybe invested days and weeks in that map, so they are sad if it doesn't get released. I generally agree with you and also prefer quality instead of quantity (one of the reasons why iMTG was founded), but accepting only the very best maps, can't also be the right solution.
