We talked about the map and he was afraid to say this. I already told him to go more into detail.
The problem (in our view) is rather, that the map is partially unbalanced (that can be fixed ofcourse) and that the map is not really creative, well some players don't think that these kind of drag parts are good gameplay.

Well it is true that there is nothing "brand" new creative hyper part :D
But that's what I wanted.
I (and I think others do aswell) love those parts where you can just run through and chill your life =D
Those kind of maps are finishable for everyone.

Beginners can train and try the parts as often as they want, cause it's not failable, better ones can do them quite fast and pro's do them mostly first try and make a speedrun and try to beat their own (or others) time.
That's the sense of the map.

If you don't like it jao then it's okay for me. It's your opinion.
If ddnet won't release it, it's also okay..
BUT I can tell you, many people like those maps even if "ddnet" doesnt.. for whatever reason.

My opinion is: Purple Panic is what it is. A mapline where you can chill, playing teeworlds without aggression and enjoy playing with your mates :)

Now it's up on you to decide what you wanna do with it :)

btw:

And how many players think these kind of "standard"-dragparts are good gameplay? :) I guess the number of finishes says something about it..

The thing is that we usually reject maps like this. How do we justify that we declined all the maps for their boring gameplay, if we release this?

The map is not really good for beginners, a lot hooks require too much skill and that people can try often because it's not failable doesn't mean that the gameplay has to be so boring. Also you don't need countless beginner maps in the same style. We already have 3 Purple Panics and a lot novice/easy ddmax maps. I just don't see a good reason to release this. ;)

We also have 11 Aim maps and nobody knows a good reason why beside that the community enjoy the maps. The best reason to release it is that the players like the map and at the end that's what matters. And we didn't only decline maps like this. We also released PP3 ^^

Check out this thread. Same situation just with a bigger controversion. At the end this "ddmaxish" map became one of the most finished moderate maps. You can still say the map is bad and stuff like this but It doesn't care at all when the people like it. (in both cases the maps aren't bad but just not a good example for extra ordinary gameplay)

Only because the map will be played no matter what, it doesn't mean that we should release a bad map. (just my opinion :>)

I agree with what RayB said.
Maybe your personally idea of a great map is something new, creativ, improved things etc.

But this is just a question of what you like.
I mean for me good maps don't have to be this.
For me they have to be as good as community wants.

I tested the map a lot and you know what I do when I tested PP4? I had some parts where i needed like 30 and more tries, i remapped the parts cause I WANT them to be easier. That's I guess why people like them and some doesnt. But you just can't create a map that everyone likes.

Tastes are different.

If you say : map will be played but is still bad
i don't get this... I can't explain but, for me this is kind of..well..I won't say it.
Cause if the map is played often by players and after 3 years still popular it can't be a bad gameplay or "boring" in my opinion. So for you a map is just good if it has ordinary gameplay but only a few player like it??... mh :/

Please focus on this map. Don't say "there are other maps so people will like this one". You can't compare it to 4 NoooBs, because it is totally different. Some will say that this is totally different to pp1 so please rethink your arguments.

Anqel you said you tested it, well that is what we expect, that is what everybody does. Beside your great tests, you often added bugs while fixing your map. Right now there are missing HT tiles so the map is unplayable. (And that is not the first time u added bugs) So please test your map before uploading. "I tested the map alot"

When did jao say that he wants that? Please don't do false accusations. It does not help at all.

I still see some rather small problems with this map. When i am motivated, i might do some screenshots, well other testers could do the same.

Arguing against a release is useless in my opinion, people will play the map, (no matter if 200 or 2000) so a release is fine.
This discussion should be focussed on this map!

You are right there were some HT missing and I don't know why cause I added them there in an older version already......
Well I don't get this. Maybe cause I use automap when I edit some parts..
But i DO test them a lot before I post them here first time Welf.
And the map was nearly bugfree when I posted it first time but I had to change something and then there were new bugs >.<
Specially when I had to replace all old HT's. I'm sorry for that.
